Our Mission

To improve the well-being of people impacted by dementia through Care Innovation, Advocacy and Empowerment.

Dementia Singapore was formed in 1990 as the 'Alzheimer's Disease Association' to better serve Singapore's growing dementia community, increase awareness about dementia, and reduce the stigma surrounding the condition.

As Singapore's leading Social Service Agency (SSA) in specialised dementia care, Dementia Singapore aims to advocate for the needs of people living with dementia and their families; empower the community through capability-building, knowledge and consultancy; and deliver quality, person-centred care innovations.

Dementia Singapore is registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee (UEN No. 202111519K), listed as a Charity and is recognised as an Institution of a Public Character (IPC).

Dementia Singapore is a member of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS) and Alzheimer's Disease International. We have been appointed by NCSS as a "Centre of Specialisation" since 2007, and are one of 13 Learning Institutes under the Agency for Integrated Care Learning Network.

Helping Seniors With Dementia Live Well

Life changes for everyone affected by the dementia diagnosis. Despite that, it is still possible to live well and there are support available to help your loved one cope with their condition. Dementia Singapore provides essential services and support to families impacted by dementia. We also provide caregiver support including training on how to care for persons with dementia. Through our various programmes we help: • persons with dementia to maintain or improve their functional status, social engagement, mood and overall well-being • provide relief for caregivers, help to alleviate caregiver burden for families and increase their abilities to cope with, and continue caring for their loved ones. According to the Well-being of the Singapore Elderly (WiSE) study led by the Institute of Mental Health in 2024, one in 11 people aged 60 and above may have dementia . With increased life expectancy and a rapidly ageing population in Singapore, this number is expected to increase to 152,000 by 2030 (Healthhub.sg). This creates an urgency to prepare our society as a whole to live with dementia. Adequate support must thus be in place to ensure that their quality of life is not adversely impacted.
