Our Mission

Together We Nurture Every Child and Family to Shine.

Established in 1968, CSLMCH provides shelter, care and protection for children aged 5 to 21. Children in the Home have experienced neglect or abuse and are admitted through the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF). Residents remain under the care of CSLMCH while social service professionals work closely with their families to assess and prepare for reunification. In cases where family reunification is not possible, residents will be prepared for transition to independent living and community integration after discharge.

The Home provides holistic support, including educational assistance, social-emotional coaching, therapy, spiritual nurturing and life skills programmes. Licensed under MSF’s Social Residential Homes Act (SRHA), CSLMCH is also a registered charity under the Charities Act with an Institution of a Public Character (IPC) status and is a member of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS). The Home is an MSF-designated Child Protection Case Management (CPCM) Agency, delivering specialised case management services to safeguard the well-being of children and to strengthen families. At Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home, 60% of our residents have special needs. Without proper intervention, they struggle with learning, building confidence and reaching their full potential. *Aaron, a resident of our Home and has been with us since 2022, was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. He often felt anxious about his homework had difficulty concentrating. With patience and the right support, he gradually grew in confidence and became more focused and motivated in his studies. Now in Secondary 1, Aaron is taking G1 English and making steady progress in his academic results. His journey reminds us that with early intervention and the appropriate support, our residents can overcome challenges, rediscover the joy of learning and thrive in school and beyond. If you met Angie Tan today, a dedicated nurse caring for persons with intellectual disabilities, you would never imagine that her earliest memories were shaped within the walls of a children’s home. At eight years old, Angie was admitted to Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home (CSLMCH). Her father was absent and her mother moved in and out of prison. For a young child, life was marked by instability and uncertainty. At CSLMCH, Angie found more than shelter. She received steady care, guidance and encouragement. Through structured programmes, meaningful activities and dedicated staff and volunteers, she was given the opportunity to grow, learn and thrive. With the Home’s support, Angie worked part-time while receiving financial assistance from a church community to complete her studies at polytechnic. Today, Angie, aged 38, stands strong and accomplished, a testament to the consistent support and compassionate care made possible through CSLMCH and the programmes and services provided for children in need.
